Needless to say, we always have an eye out for all the royal heirloom pieces and traditional regal jewels that she flaunts. OGI ltd. is obsessed with the iconic tiaras, rings and brooches flaunted by the Duchess of Cambridge.

However, if we absolutely had to choose one iconic piece from the stunning royal showcase of tiaras and jewelry pieces, we simply have to choose the gorgeous diamond and pearl necklace flaunted by Kate Middleton at a state banquet hosted by the Buckingham Palace to honor the Dutch royals, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

The stunning diamond and pearl necklace features eight large drop pearls dangling from central clusters, nestled in an artful setting of diamonds, interlinked with diamond festoons.

In History: Diamond & Pearl Necklace

Almost over a century old, this iconic and elaborate pearl and diamond studded necklace has been flaunted by generations in the royal family, and it comes with a rich and fascinating history. The necklace originally belonged to the elegant and tasteful Queen Alexandra of Denmark. She had received this iconic necklace from her husband, Queen Victoria’s son, Prince of Wales, and later known as the King Edward VII.

King Edward VII had gifted this spectacular necklace to his wide, Queen Alexandra to celebrate their royal wedding back in 1863. The necklace was adorned with a magnificently jewelry set, consisting of a dazzling brooch, earrings and the world-famous Rundell tiara, which disappeared centuries ago.

The Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, adored this iconic piece of jewelry, and she first flaunted this magnificent necklace in 1982, at a state banquet hosted to honor the Netherlands. The Queen Mother flaunted the necklace at a formal gathering in 1964, and then, she was pictured flaunting this beauty at her 85th birthday, in 1985.

The necklace has witnessed multiple generations of the royal family, and from Queen Alexandra, it passed on to the wife of King George V, Queen Marry. Later, King George VI’s wife, the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, presented the iconic necklace to her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II. The reigning sovereign of the United Kingdom officially inherited this iconic necklace in 2002, and it rests in Her Majesty’s Jewel Vault.

Even though Queen Elizabeth II has never been seen wearing this dazzling creation, she is always generous enough to lend it to the gorgeous Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
